Donghai County’s Silicon Industrialization

 Collection of the Key To-be-developedProjects

Preface

       Being lied in the Northeast of Jiangsu Province, and facing the Yellow Sea, Donghai County is the first station from east in Asia-Europe Continental Railway. It is well-known as the “capital of crystal in China”. Silicon’s further industrialization, which depends on the rich crystal and quartz resources, is the pillar industry of this county’s economy. In the spirit of developing the Northern part of Jiangsu Province given by our Provincial Party Committee and government, Donghai County’s Party Committee and government widely carried out the strategy of “promoting the county through science and education”. And in the theme of “creation and industrialization”, our county gave prominence to the key projects, integrated resource, broke through difficulties. As a result, the comprehensive technology of processing silicon is greatly improved and the capacity of creative science and technology is strengthened. Currently, Donghai County’s silicon industrialization base, depending on the raw materials of quartz glass pipe, silicon powder, and quartz glass, and process center, manufacturing quartz lamps and lanterns, and crystal slices, are essentially built. The advantages of the industrialized scale are reflecting, and the guided role of it is playing. In 2004, the County realized the gross sale of 4.8 billion yuan, which is expected to reach 5.8billion yuan in 2005, more than 25% of all the sale gross of the county. And it will promote the county’s economy to develop continuously and quickly.

There are three main strategies in Donghai County—strong industries, an open mind, and scientific education. For the purpose of constantly improving the level of opening-up at home and abroad and strengthening the scientific and economic exchange and cooperation between our county and customers at home or broad, scientific research institutions, and various enterprises, we edit and print the Collection of the 8^th Crystal Festival in China Donghai. (short for Collection) The Collection selects 50 key projects of scientific and economic cooperation in productive and processing fields of silicon resources, mainly consisting of project backgrounds, market analysis, investment scale, benefit analysis, the methods of joint venture and cooperation. These projects have better development advantages and technology conditions. All circles of the society are warmly welcome to make field survey about the projects in Collection, to invest industries, to mutually develop, and to realize “win-win”.

The Donghai County concentrates lots of advantages of circling Yellow Sea developing areas, east Long Sea industrial belt and eastern Jiangsu Province at sea areas, and enjoys favorable policies like “ Southern Jiangsu Industrial Belt” authorized by government of Jiangsu Province, and  “Industrial Base of Silicon of East Sea of National Torch Project” authorized by the national department. It has economic and trade communication over China and over 50 counties and areas. Further more, it has developed investment and cooperation relationships with some world-renowned transnational corporation such as Phillips, GE, Siemens, Youzhiwang, Shiwaqi and so on, and have international economic and technology cooperation projects with over 20 countries. Facing the increasingly tough competence on the international market, silicon industry of Donghai County has paid more and more attention on the research and development of hi-tech and high quality silicon products, on research over wild range for cooperation among universities and colleges in and out of China, developing institutions and various corporations. So, during a long time from now on, science and economic cooperation with Donghai County about the exploit and utilizing of silicon would be very broad.

Donghai is the land of investment with rich resources, preferential policy, effective government, fine transportation, and firm industrial basis. These conditions can provide great force and guarantee for the rapid development of science, economy, and social case in Donghai County.
