The Project of Producing High-pure Quartz Glass Material from Gravels
instead of Gangues of Quartz

Background and Significance of the Project
The
resources of quartz in Donghai County actually can be divided into two
species--gravels and gangues. The resources of gangues of quartz are only
about 5,500,000 ton, just constituting around 1.8% of the whole resources
of quartz in Donghai County. While gravels of quartz distribute widely,
either covering the earth’s surface or buried 0.5-3.5-meter-deep
underground, with a stable layer and thickness of above 2-3 meters. And
the resources of mass exploitation of gravels of quartz are about
50,000,000 ton, accounting for 17% of the total. Whether gangues or
gravels of quartz are exploited, only part of which can be used as the
materials of the quartz glass tubes. In resent years, part of high quality
gangues of quartz, which has a decreasing trend with the increasing
exploitation, are mainly exploited in Donghai County. Therefore, it is
more significant to study and use gravels of quartz instead of high
quality gangues of quartz to produce high-pure quartz glass materials.
This
project is one of provincial projects of tackling key problem in science
and technology, specifying in the new technology of classifying,
selecting, handling part of quartz gravels to produce high-pure quartz
glass materials (high-pure quartz). Through working out the rate of the
high-pure quartz in the quartz gravels, the available resources of
high-pure quartz can be calculated, furthermore, the high quality quartz
glass materials can be produced with the advantaged technology.

Market Analysis
With
the quick development of electron and communications and their increasing
requirement for high quality glass, it is bound to increasingly expend the
demand for the high-pure quartz materials. Just the quartz glass field in
Donghai County producing 60000 ton quartz glass tubes per year demands
100000 ton quartz glass materials. The material cost can be decreased by
60% if gravels can replace gangue of quartz to produce high-pure quartz
glass material. So this project has a big potential market and an enormous
economic benefit.

Assessment of Project Investments, Scale and Period of Project
Constructions
The
total investment of the project reaches 15,000,000 yuan, mainly applied to
the workshop constructions, equipment purchase and technology research and
development.
The
period of project constructions will last 2 years. The production scale
can reach 3000 ton per year high-pure quartz grits after the completion of
the project.

Analysis of Economic Benefits
The
estimated production value of the project can reach 18,000,000 yuan per
year, and its profit tax can reach 6,000,000 yuan per year.
